About Us

Our History

Recognized for our design and craftsmanship, Cascade Custom Homes and Design has become the Pacific Northwest’s premiere custom home builder, General Contractor and remodeler. Winning awards and recognition from industry peers and the many families we’ve had the pleasure of building homes for. In the past 35 years we have built custom homes and remodels for over 1,000 families. Our diverse portfolio consists of extensive home renovations, custom designed homes for expanding families, and multi-million-dollar luxury view homes.

Our Vision

As a design-build company, we’ve had much success in designing the majority of the homes we have built. We realize that the “traditional” family home is a thing of the past. Homes today need to accommodate active lifestyles, home offices, and include flexible spaces. We will take you through an extensive design process that ensures your new home meets all of your expectations. In addition, by providing you with “allowances”, we make it possible for you to control the cost of your new home while adding your personal touches.

Our Team

JON ROBERTS

President

After graduating from Washington State University with a BA emphasis in Architecture, Jon moved to Whidbey Island in 1990 and started up his own design firm located in Coupeville. In 1994 he contracted with then owner of Cascade Custom Homes, Mel Gill, as their estimator and architectural designer. Being a longtime resident of Whidbey Island and having a passion for design and the home building industry, it seemed like the next natural step for Jon was to purchase Cascade when the opportunity became available in 2000. Jon’s commitment to transcend the homebuilding experience for his clients has built an award winning reputation and helped hundreds of clients build their custom dream home. Jon has managed to run a viable company by planning for limited future resources and economical down turns. In addition to being a WSU graduate, he is a National Association of Home Builders Certified Graduate Builder, Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist and a Certified BuiltGreen™ Builder.

JAY ROBERTS

Vice President

Growing up on Whidbey Island helped shape Jay’s love of small towns as well as his family and faith.  At an early age, Jay was a builder at heart working on small projects for his father’s real estate firm.  Once he graduated high school, he moved to Wenatchee and dove headfirst into the building trades working for a custom home builder in the Chelan Valley.  His love for the building industry, the people he meets, the dreams he gets to fulfill and the lifelong relationships he forms is what drives him today.

Jay has been involved with the building industry’s local associations. He was the President of SICBA for two consecutive years and is still actively involved on the board.  Jay is a Senior Officer with the State Building Association, BIAW, and is also a member of CWHBA.  He holds the coveted State of Washington title of Certified Builder, as well as NAHB Designations of Certified Graduate Builder and Certified Green Builder

LARRY MASON

Project Manager

Larry joined the team at Cascade in 2008. His diverse background in the building industry includes owning his own business and managing custom home projects for a Seattle based luxury home builder. Larry, like the rest of the Cascade team, grew up on Whidbey Island and he graduated from Oak Harbor High School. When Larry isn’t spending time with his family, his “Fab Four” alpacas, or being a part-time musician you’ll find him on a Cascade job site building dreams for people. Perhaps even more rewarding than making dreams come true, Larry enjoys building new relationships with his clients.

TAMMI FISHER

PROJECT MANAGER/Accounting

Tammi has been with Cascade since 2006 and has become a vital team member to us all. She is our Office Manager, Accounts Receivable & Payable, referee for the brothers, and all around bright smile in the office. Some would call her the glue. Tammi will make sure that all of your questions are answered with complete clarity.

BUILDING GREEN

Going “Green” is interpreted differently in many forms, products, and industries. Here, we will give you an overview of what it means to go “Green” when it comes to building your new custom home. Cascade Custom Homes and Design is a member of SKAGIT ISLAND COUNTY BUILDERS ASSOCIATION. Owner, Jon Roberts, was on the Board of Directors 2005-2010 and was a contributor to the associations BuiltGreen™ program. A SICBA BuiltGreen™ home receives a certificate of merit and is awarded a 1, 2 or 3 star rating. The BuiltGreen™ rating takes into consideration site protection practices, recycling procedures, indoor air quality, systems and products incorporated into the home, and the type of construction. Read on to learn how you can incorporate the BuiltGreen™ program into your new custom home.
